The Cradle: INTERBODEN's first timber hybrid building in Düsseldorf now has a branding - The Cradle
Düsseldorf/Ratingen, 19th February 2018: From 2019, a timber hybrid office building will be built in the Düsseldorf MedienHafen, the first of its kind in the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia. The brand for this iconic project has now been announced: The Cradle.
The brand The Cradle is not without reason: the property is being developed in accordance with the "Cradle-to-Cradle©" principle, which allows individual building components to be recycled after use. This type of resource-efficient construction optimizes production processes, minimizes the production of non-recyclable materials and reduces CO2 emissions.
At The Cradle, it's not just the environmentally friendly construction, for which the architectural office HPP has found a spectacular form, that is future-orientated. INTERBODEN is also taking a pioneering role in the mobility concept and plans to establish a mobility hub on the ground floor. Here, building users and residents of the district will have access to a primarily electric mobility offering.
"We are currently preparing the building application so that we can start work in 2019," said Carsten Boell from INTERBODEN. "We expect the completion of this highlight project by 2022. The solitaire building with around 6,600 square meters of office space and 600 square meters of space for gastronomic use directly on the water will enrich the harbour."
