INTERBODEN wins Iconic Award 2018 with The Cradle
Düsseldorf / München, 09.10.2018 The first recyclable office building in North Rhine-Westphalia was awarded the Iconic Award 2018 in the category "Innovative Architecture". Even before construction begins, the future-orientated construction project is once again honoured with a prestigious architecture award. The Iconic Award honours those projects at the Expo Real in Munich that make the interplay between architecture, design, and visionary concepts a reality. The competition awards a suitable number of submissions each year in six competition categories. The competition recognizes projects in the fields of architecture, interior design, product design, communication, concept, and innovative materials that "set new impulses with visionary power", as described by Andrej Kupetz, CEO of the German Design Council.
The interdisciplinary architecture and design competition focuses in particular on the holistic staging of the award-winning projects, a criterion that is perfectly implemented on an ecological level with this year's architecture prize winner, The Cradle: "The recyclable office building 'The Cradle' establishes a completely new architectural language that is carried not only by pure design aspects but above all by the coherent overall concept of the project," says Gerhard G. Feldmeyer, Managing Partner at HPP Architects, who developed the innovative sustainability concept together with INTERBODEN.
In line with the Cradle-to-Cradle© principle, the design and architecture of the office building convince in economic, ecological, and social aspects and form a consistent overall concept. With its sustainable and ecological vision, the idea is already attracting international attention: in March 2018, the project was awarded the MIPIM Future Project Award 2018. The Iconic Award is now another award that proves the pioneering architecture and design concept behind The Cradle.
